Given its versatility and timeless appeal, wood flooring is an excellent choice for any home. That said, no two homes are the same. You’ll always want to find the flooring that matches your personal preference, lifestyle and your home’s design.
Fortunately, there are plenty of stunning options to choose from. Read on to find out how to choose the best wood flooring for your home.
Matching your lifestyle
First and foremost, consider what the priorities are for you and your home. Are you looking for something ultra-durable for a busy kitchen? Or is a natural appearance top of the list for you for a bedroom, dining room or lounge space?
The good news is that all wood flooring is highly durable and natural in appearance. Rest assured, whatever your choice, you’re not going to compromise on any of the classic wood flooring benefits. However, there are certain varieties and finishes that can heighten particular benefits to make the flooring perfect for you.
The best way to find what’s best for you is to speak to someone in our wood flooring showroom and explain your priorities. A wood flooring specialist will be able to guide you through the options with samples of each product.
Matching your home
Rather than focussing on specific elements, colours or styles, design is about how everything works together. With that in mind, it’s always best to see how the wood flooring looks in your home. Once you have chosen some samples in the showroom, we can bring them out to your house for you to see them in situ.
However, for some, it’s still very difficult to imagine what the whole floor will look like. Unfortunately, it would be both time consuming and costly for you to have different floors installed and removed.
That’s why we offer the option of fitting an unfinished floor that can be sanded and stained on site. Our team can apply test patches on the floor before it’s completed, so you can get a feel for several different options in-situ before choosing the one that’s right.
Matching your personal preference
While the colour and finish of the wood will need to match your home, there’s also the small matter of how it’s laid. This is simply down to personal preference, with a selection of styles and patterns to choose from:
- Herringbone
- Double herringbone
- Brick bond
- Stack bond
- Basket weave
- Chevron
- Versailles panels
Again, this is something you can discuss in the showroom, with samples of each style available to see up close.
